Sad Day For Kitchener Independent Musicians As The Boathouse Announces Closing

Sadly, Kevin Doyle (owner/operator of The Boathouse) has announced that the City of Kitchener has taken over the Boathouse and his option to be located there will end. This will bring an end to the fantastic experiences that both local artists and International legends have shared on this near famous stage.

For many local artists this will mean an end of an era. Several artists enjoy the opportunity to have regular BOHO gig’s, while others regularly attend to offer support to their peers. If an independent artist is coming through the Kitchener area, you can be sure they are going to be booked at The Boathouse. It’s become a must see/play venue for anyone in the industry…

Kitchener Blues Festival Is On Again

Well it is that time of year again when approximately 100,000 people will descend upon downtown Kitchener to relish in the wonderful Blues experience that awaits them. As I am posting this the Downtown BIA Stage is already fired up and running and by 6pm this evening when Miss Angel & The Homewreckers hit the stage, the crowds will be ready for them. Hats off to the KBF committee for putting together another fantastic lineup.

Sitting Down With David Wilcox

On Saturday August 7th David Wilcox was in town for the 2010 Kitchener Blues Festival. We were lucky enough to sit down with him for a few minutes before he took to the main stage to provide free entertainment for thousands of spectators completely taking over King Street in downtown Kitchener.
