I believe that this summer has been the best, thanks to LocalVibe. Instead of sitting around doing absolutely nothing, dying in the heat , I had LocalVibe to keep me busy. The best part is I love what I do. This summer I started off with going to small events like The Cave for some [...]

2xtunes May Be The Future Of Karaoke

by on Aug.13, 2009, under Info, Local Talent, Locations, Other, Reviews

Karaoke is a growing force of nature that is taking over in pubs, restaurants and nightclubs everywhere; and now this phenomenon can be available right from your home as well. I am not talking about singing in the shower or bopping around your kitchen with a wooden spoon microphone. I am talking the real deal karaoke except it is accessible from your home. This means that when the club closes, the party doesn’t have to stop. Just head home with your friends and login to 2xtunes.com to carry on taking turns posting your own versions of the greatest hits live to the web for the world to see.

Peter Ezekiel wrote an in depth article back in April about how 2xtunes.com came to fruition which can be found at http://localvibe.ca/2009/04/24/terry-hesch-and-2xtunescom/ and it is worth reading

Just looking at the packed parking lot already set the vibe for the show. Walking into Mulligans I could instantly tell by the atmosphere that this was going to be a chillin’ show. Up to the plate was Peter Ezekiel, armed with his trusty Epiphone guitar he was ready to rock the crowd. And they [...]

Rockin The Valley 2 For Hardcore Rock And Rollers

by on Aug.09, 2009, under Bobnoxious, Concerts, Info, Local Talent, Locations, Other, Reviews

Ok, so Rockin The Valley 2 went down last night for a select group of hardcore rock and rollers who couldn’t be held back by the impending rain that pelted us for most of the night. This group of wet people bouncing around in the rain and mud who were affectionately labeled as “Dirtbags” by Chris Raposo, West Memphis Suicide’s frontman, got louder and prouder as the rain got harder and more frequent. For those of you that aren’t aware or can’t understand how this could be considered an affectionate greeting, the term “Dirtbag” is a positive one in the WMS circle of friends. It represents someone with integrity, honesty, loyalty, respect and several other admirable qualities. Anyways, the dirtbags were in full force for the WMS show and all of the other fantastic entertainment organized by Mike Watson, Jason Jansekovich and too many others to list here. This event couldn’t have happened without the many people that pitched in to help, and to those people we would like to say “THANKS DIRTBAGS!”. For those of you that weren’t there, or can’t exactly remember some of what happened, we have included a photo gallery with all of the bands, and just a few of the people that were out playing in the rain.

Partying in the rain at Rockin The Valley2

Early in the day, the tents were set up and the stage was affixed with huge tarps to keep the bands and their equipment dry.

Interview With Finger Eleven: Headlining Kitchener’s BRTB ’09

by on Jul.27, 2009, under Concerts, Downtown Kitchener, Festivals, Info, Interviews, Kitchener / Waterloo, Local Talent, Locations, Reviews

I had the huge honour of interviewing members of Finger Eleven for the Local Vibe e-zine (http://localvibe.ca).  We met backstage and while their lead vocalist, Scott Anderson, warmed up, I chatted with Rick Jackett and Rich Beddoe (their guitarist and drummer).  Their passion was infectious.  They had such exuberant candor when it came to talking about their [...]

It was no surprise to see hundreds of people lined up down the street and around the corner to get into this year’s “Beat Rocks the Block” in downtown Kitchener this past Saturday. After all, the event was showcasing the likes of Stereos, The New Cities, Marianas Trench, and of course Finger Eleven, along with [...]
