The Kitchener Songwriting Competition is still accepting applications until August 31, 2009. The highly successful Cambridge version of this event saw people turned away towards the end as they had completed the roster of applicants, so if you are interested in pursuing this opportunity, you had better get your application in soon.

RJ Entertainment is putting this 13 week long event on with the help of Molly Blooms Irish Pub at 10 Manitou Drive in Kitchener.

The Great Lakes Songwriting Contest is still accepting applications until September 1st. Although this event isn’t actually local to us here in the Kitchener/Waterloo area, some local talent has done very well at this contest in the past. The Cambridge Singer/Songwriter Competition has come to a close with a full house at Mulligan’s Sports Grill. Robbie Hancock of RJ Entertainment has outdone himself with the caliber of talent that he was able to attract for this competition. Local Vibe has been present for a couple of the weekly events that were qualifiers for this fantastic event and were never disappointed. This final segment was a culmination of many weeks of various artists playing their hearts out on the stage to try and win a spot in the semi-finals, which took place on June 17th and 18th. When it came down to this week, only 10 remained and the turnout to see who would take the top prizes was rather awesome.

The final night of the songwriting competition between 10 of the top qualifying competitors. The top 3 will take prizes including a $1500 first prize.
