Caught in the act; Mary 5e at Molly Blooms
by Scot on Apr.11, 2009, under Concerts, Info, Local Talent, Molly Blooms Kitchener, Other, Reviews, Venues
I don’t like leaving the Galt part of Cambridge.. For me to venture to Kitchener to watch a show is not something I do with any joy, but this was well worth the journey. I walked into Molly Blooms expecting the venom spitting vixen who, with her band The Stone Angels, opened at the Velvet [...]

by Scot on Apr.11, 2009, under Groove Kitchen, Local Talent, Reviews, The Boathouse, Venues
Warning. This video contains raw, graphic footage of musicians being shot.
It’s one thing to walk up to a musician, and tell him you are a writer, or if you pull out a camera and take a shot when they are onstage. That most of them are used to. It’s another when you a group of [...]

For the benefit of whom?
by Scot on Mar.23, 2009, under Fundraisers, Other
Ian recently mentioned to me the inordinate number of so called “benefit concerts” that are happening in our community that we are asked to promote. I was relatively unaware of the situation, as this usually Ian’s department while I focus on features, but I have paid more attention since he mentioned it, and I have [...]

We were contacted by Steve Rollins from the Cambridge Band Lift and ask to help publicize this very special cause. Randy Wilson passed on February 15th. He left behind a pregnant wife and 2 children.

Mad Hatters Tea Party: Your Thoughts
by Scot on Feb.28, 2009, under Other
Tonight was the first show for Ian and I. We have spent the better part of the last year going to all kinds of shows in local venues. I would like to hear the opinions of the musicians, the people who were there, and the people who watched online. The only way we can get [...]
