Oktoberfest

(Kitchener-Waterloo, Canada – October 10, 2010) – The judges have spoken – Karli Purcell, 18, of Listowel, was named the 2010 Oktoberfest Idol winner today at Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest.

Karli Purcell has also won the Northern Ontario Open Country Singing Contest and the Harvest Star Search, as well as being a finalist in the Ontario Youth Talent Search.

The search for the best singing performance was held this morning at the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts, where audiences enjoyed performances from over 12 contestants vying for the title of Oktoberfest Idol. The Oktoberfest Idol winner receives 10 hours of recording time from Studio a and a one-on-one session with the Music Director at 91.5 The Beat to discuss their future in the music industry. This prize package is valued at over $1,600.

For aspiring singers under the age of 14, a Junior Idol Competition was also held. The Junior Idol received a prize package valued at $600. The talented Joshua Peidl, 13, of Waterloo was named this year’s Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Junior Idol Winner.

In addition to the Junior Oktoberfest Idol title, Joshua has also won the Cambridge Fair Youth Competition and the Drumbo Fair Youth Competition.

Winners in each category will also introduce their newly acquired “Idol” status at the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade on Monday, October 11th which is televised on CTV at 12:00 pm. They will also appear on stage at the Downtown Willkommen Platz.

Oktoberfest Idol 2010 is proudly supported by 91.5 The Beat, Stockie Mitsubishi, and the Downtown Kitchener Business Improvement Area.
