Summing Up My Summer With LOCALVIBE.ca

I believe that this summer has been the best, thanks to LocalVibe. Instead of sitting around doing absolutely nothing, dying in the heat , I had LocalVibe to keep me busy. The best part is I love what I do. This summer I started off with going to small events like The Cave for some shows. With bands playing like Something You Whisper, Grindstone, and Silent Getaway. They were all amazing! But I’d have to say the highlight of my summer would have to be Beat Rocks The Block ’09.
Beat Rocks The Block
I woke up got dressed and started to tidy myself up. I looked up into the mirror. “ Today’s the day,..” I said with a huge smile. Dakota called confirming that we were riding with him. I told my dad what he told me then moved on. I mean come on, a girl takes an hour to get ready for a date. Now imagine a girl talking to someone extremely special and hot. Yeah, and I had to get ready in 30 minutes then make something to eat for lunch. I was extremely happy… well anyone would be their first concert! The drive down was extremely hard for me I was so excited! My stomach did flip flops. When we were pulling into the lot for the space it was being held I stopped breathing. The security stopped asking us who we were. It felt good when Ian said we were for Local Vibe and they let us pass.
We were getting our stuff to set up at the booth that LocalVibe had behind 91.5 The Beat. A few local bands played near the beer tent. And let me tell you they were amazing! A few hours passed by and some of the more well known bands started playing. Me and my partner started taking some pics. And as time passed we got more excited. My heart stopped my face when rigid. This was one of the bands I’ve been dying to see… STEREOS! When they stepped on the stage the crowed ROARED! Being with the vibe we were allowed to go close to the stage to take pics. I thought it was cool.
The next few bands that played were great but I was waiting for two more performances that would make my night complete! When Shiloh got on stage and sang I was told that I was gonna interview her. I was bubbling with excitement I mean the first concert I go to I get to interview someone. That’s when it hit me….LocalVibe rocks! Literally. While she played more songs I went back to the Vibe booth to think about some questions to ask her. When she was done singing she went to the 91.5 The Beat booth and they interviewed her for a while. When they were done with her she came to our booth. And right then in that moment I stopped breathing and stopped thinking. I was, as they say, Starstruck. When we started the interview I was great. By the end of the interview I ran out of questions so she helped me out and gave me some. She’s really an amazing person. After the interview I couldn’t speak for a while.
When I started to speak again I went to watch the other bands. When Marianas Trench were setting up it started to rain. I was disappointed because if it continued to rain they said they were going to cancel Marianas Trench. But the rain stopped the equipment was okay and the band played. When they played it was spectacular! Like nothing I’ve felt before. After they played we got to go backstage and see them pack up. I asked the lead singer of Marianas Trench if he would sign my shirt. He gently took the pen from my hands and signed. Then he casual tossed the pen back to me then gave me a quick wink and continued to pack up. When he winked at me I would’ve fell over if I wasn’t in front of so many people. I waited until he was around the corner. That’s when I started jumping up and down and spazing everywhere.
The night mellowed down as Finger 11 played. Then everyone started to gather their things. We were tired so we started packing up our things and left. When I was finally at home I went up to my room and got ready for bed. “ Wow what a day…” I said then I fell asleep.
Rock The Mill
The next big event of my summer was rock the mill. I already knew half the bands playing there because they’ve played at Beat Rocks The Block ’09 , Frankies song, or even The Cave. But when they played this time they brought it better. Even though it was raining there was a lot of people there. I was actually shocked at the amount of people actually went. These people came for a good show. And if you ask me, they got it.
My parents had to leave with the crying baby. So I stayed behind with my other little brother. We continued to watch these fantastic bands. By 6 it got really cold and we had to go home. Either that or some part of our bodies would have fallen off. When we were finally at home we were drenched and sore. But it was worth seeing the bands play their hearts out.
Cambridge Fall Fair
The event that led into the new year was the Fall Fair. Thursday Sept.10th was the first day I went to the Fair. It was the opening of the fair and everyone seemed happy and excited. Families were walking around smiling and laughing. My partner and I were walking around for a bit well the first musician set up.
As the night moved on more and more people gathered to listen to the many different varieties of music and bands. After the last band LocalVibe packed up and went home. The next few days I was sick so I wasn’t able to go to the Fair. Saturday afternoon I felt a little bit better so I started to plan what was gonna happen for Sunday when STEREOS played. Ahhh Sunday the big day.
Chasing Amee and STEREOS played and people from all around came to watch. I even heard a woman speaking in french. My friend, Jesse, and I were waiting in line for some time just to get an autograph from STEREOS. When we finally got to them they signed my purse. Apparently Jesse didn’t want to get anything signed. After the long wait we walked around a little, ran into some friends, and ate something. We helped the fair pack up and then we left to go home.
My summer was one of the best summers I have ever had. Thanks to LocalVibe and all of it’s members. The working environment was one of the most relaxing and nice places to be. I loved everything I was able to do this summer. This is something I will never forget!
Thanks LocalVibe.ca YOU ROCK!!!
