If you think your band has the sound and website (or MySpace) to win this fantastic contest, make sure you get your entries in before the deadline of September 15th, 2009.
Original posting follows:
Slither Productions has decided that since you can’t get the kids off of their computers, we will bring Band Bash right to them, in their homes across Canada.
Band Bash is an online musician competition open to musicians across Canada. We realize that kids are recording their own music in their own studios and uploading them to their own myspace pages, so we want to reflect this in our competitions.
This contest not only has the judges listen to their music, but also to check out their web page and critique that as well.
Slither Productions President, Karen Druif : “Since the music industry is so deeply enmeshed online, we are hosting this competition on the musician’s turf. A musician’s MySpace page or website is a direct reflection on not only their talent, but on their personalities as well. We want to showcase emerging Canadian talent as a whole picture, not just a song. And to prove it, we are taking this competition Canada wide.”
Slither Productions takes this competition very seriously. The judges are a reflection of that:
Joe Kresta, A&R, Roadrunner Records Canada
Tony Tarleton, Director, Associated Labels – EMI Music Canada
Sara Lutz, Metal Blade Records Canada
Dale Harrison, Drummer, The Headstones
Ken Tizzard, Bass, The Watchmen & Thornley
Vic Branco, Iguana Studios, Toronto, Ontario
Mike Luce, Drummer, Drowning Pool
Druif says “We get high calibre judges because they believe in what we are doing. For instance, in the last Band Bash competition, two of the labels came out to see showcases from a couple of the bands. They are watching, and they are interested.”
Prizes are:
Marshall half stack amp
Hagstrom electric guitar
Godin electric guitar
Godin electric bass
Godin accoustic/electric guitar
A signed guitar by artist Papa Roach from Axe Music!
Druif also says “If it wasn’t for the industry manufacturers and retail, there would be no Band Bash. Like the Industry professionals, the manufacturers believe in what we are doing, and I think that’s obvious by the prizes we have garnered. I think the best prize of all is access to the video ‘Advice from the Pros’. These videos were produced to help emerging Canadian Talent to see what will be expected of them by the industry.”
