Yee haw! There will be plenty of this being shouted from the crowd at Heather’s Hootenanny for Hope, being held just outside of Cambridge this weekend. This country music festival will feature several live performances to raise funds for the fight against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s disease or ALS.

Heather Snell, an woman from Ayr who was diagnosed with the disease three years ago is the proud host of the fundraiser. Heather is well known around these parts as a country singer whose performances have had to stop due to the degenerative brain disease that slowly paralyzes its victims. There is a story written about her history with the disease and offering further details on the Hootenanny itself, which can be found on the Cambridge Times website.

We are proud to share the musical lineup with you here:

12 noon – Welcome with Distinction

12:15pm – Hootenanny Community Singers

There are many events going on this weekend but few have the added benefit of contributing to such a worthwhile cause. The cost is $20 for adults and $5 for children and all funds raised will be directed to Dr. Michael Strong, and his research at Robarts Research at the University Hospital in London.

For full details on the event including shuttle bus information, please visit the Heather’s Hootenanny For Hope website.

Hi guys – thanks for the post for Heather’s Hootenanny for Hope. I believe most of the info was gathered from the Cambridge Times who have given us some good press. A few corrections though – Heather has been a singer/piano accompanist to many groups/choirs/artists in the area (sorry, no country singer, even though she LOVES country!) She has ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) which is not a degenerative brain disease but most who have been diagnosed with it live for only 1- 5 years. To find out more about ALS and the Hootenanny (which is a music festival with artists from every musical style)please visit our blog at http://www.hh4h.ca. This year’s event was once again an incredible day, and $34,000 we raised for ALS Research!!!!

Hi Karen, I tried my best to get some information from both the Times story and the hh4h website, without stepping on anyone’s copyrighted info.

I am glad to hear that you had such a great day, and were able to raise these funds for a well deserved cause.

I will do what I can to make sure that I double check the info I am finding elsewhere before publishing it in the future to avoid making small mistakes like these.

Heather – there is hope that you can be healed from Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Check out my website and find out for yourself.

I have used their method of treatment on myself for another illness I was suffering from and I am Very very happy with the results.

I am so pleased I came across this Hootenanny for Hope site.

    Kindest regards
