Kitchener Ribfest And Craft Beer Show In Review

by on Jul.20, 2009, under Concerts, Festivals, Info, Kitchener / Waterloo, Other, Reviews, Victoria Park

Let me tell you, this was a wonderful event. I was there on Saturday and again on Sunday. The musicians that I liked the most were Colin White who performed early on Saturday, and Cheryl Lescom who was slated to fill all day Sunday.

The Ribber that won first place in every judged category was Boss Hogs BBQ (Chicken, Ribs, and Sauce). The barbecued corn on the cob and yams were also excellent as described by my vegetarian compadre who came to Ribfest for the first time. She claimed to be, “Only here for the beer”. But was pleasantly surprised by the options of things to eat, drink, play, ride, browse, and listen to.

The craft brewers gave us an opportunity to try all of their different beers at only $1.00 a glass. We tried almost everyone’s and found that we preferred the Organic Lager and Green Apple Pilsner from Nickel Brook, out of Burlington. We also found out about Black Fly fruit vodka coolers that were made so as not to be sweet. Great concept.

We didn’t take any of the rides in the associated carnival in Victoria Park, but we saw many children enjoying themselves. When Kitchener’s RibFest returns next year, mark it on your calendar as busy, so as not to miss it again. If you did attend let us know what you favoured.
