Seven Years Lost CD Release “In Pieces” Fits Together Nicely

I walk into the Duke and Duchess last night to experience a CD release and acoustic set by Seven Years Lost which was quite frankly phenomenal. The air was electric with anticipation as the tables and walls line up with people. There was a festive atmosphere patiently awaiting the acoustic set about to be performed. Friends and fans combine to congratulate and celebrate the effort put forth for this release. The release I speak of is the New CD “In Pieces”.
“In Pieces” the collaborative effort of Chris George, Dave Houde, Greg Houde, Rob MacDonald and Jay Higgins, is a success. The songs which were Produced, Engineered and Mixed by Guitarist Dave Houde are thoroughly entertaining and melodic, Instantly recognizable and quite possibly the catapult which will jettison this band to larger venues and fame.
The cover consists of a melancholy mannequin disassembled and buried to the waist. Its hands seeming to creep around its exposed torso, one in light one in shadow. You open its cover to find a solitary boy attempting to piece it together.
The lights dim and the first number, an oriental traditional called Tu – Ning, is being plucked. As each individual string is stretched and tweaked the crowd turns its attention to the stage. The room is packed, the crowd is diverse.
With everyone in place the band opens with the first track off the CD “When We Come Alive”, and my foot decides it has a mind of its own, and it’s decided to dance. The band is in sync, in the moment and flawless. You can really judge the scope of a musicians talent when they play acoustic and these guys don’t miss a beat. Seven Years Lost is a force of nature. Rippling one melody through the next until waves flow over you and carry you off in multiple directions as every note and lyric is worthy of attention. Their songs are intelligent and well crafted. I’m happy to be a part of this.
Currently available on I-Tunes, and any gig you’re lucky enough to see them play, it’s definitely worth the purchase. You only have to check their Myspace http://www.myspace.com/sevenyearslost, to hear what I’m talking about. No matter who you are, a couple of songs into their set, the music and the performance seems to open its arms and welcome you like an old friend.
Catch them live to see what I’m saying.
Keep amusing your muse, Peter Ezekiel.

Hey Peter, Thanks for taking me out to the CD Release Party (figuratively). With this article’s first word, I thought you were going to tell me what YOU thought of the show, but you didn’t. Your writing prose carried me away to being there and experiencing it with you, that evening. Thanks for the trip. Your wonderful writing style and love of music is sure to entice more people to experience bands like these live and on CD. You RAWK!
