Just Not Famous Enough Tour Famously Entertaining

July 9th found me at Club Elements for a kick ass show. I walked into the soulful sounds of Rufus, unfortunately at the end of their set, but what I heard sounded great.

The first full set I heard was by Split The Skye and my jaw hit the floor. These boys are a good mixture of melodic and ball busting. They were in the moment and in sync, not only with each other but also with their audience. I re hinged my jaw in time enough to share a quick word with them. What started out as a five piece then became a four piece and on the day of the gig became a three piece, and you would never know, they sound like they’ve always been three. The band consists of Shane- bass/vox, Boots- guitar/vox and Flo on drums. Currently in pre production with their new C.D., which will be available in the fall, and building their Myspace, however you can find them on facebook for now. Their music is well formulated and intelligent and I will definately keep you posted as to when the C.D. release party will happen. Catch them live at the Opera House July 17th.

The next band I spoke with was The Speakeasies. These guys are also in the moment and in sync delivering a sight and sound worth travelling to experience. The Speakeasies are Kenny Phelps- bass/vox, Rick Thompson- guitar/vox, Liam Bible- drums and Ryan Allen, formerly of the Miniatures, on guitar. Their C.D. “Better Side Of Not So Good” is currently enjoying success with “The Hope That Lives Today” receiving air play on CBC Radio3, as weel as, “Come On” being played on 102.1 the Edge and 105.3 Kool FM. Catch them next on Wolfe Island, Kingston or clear your calenders and catch them at the Boat House in Kitchener September 19th.

Hats off to American Heavy Hitter publicist Aulando Frazier and Juma Management for this wide variety of talent which also included appearances by IMA award winner Kim Davis, Canadian and Next Top Model contestant Katelyn Dawn, Lauren Christoff, Ish of American Pie, A Minute Away and famed Toronto DJ Nana.

Keep your eyes peeled for these entertainers you won’t be disappointed.

Keep amusing your muse, Peter Ezekiel.
