The Cambridge Singer/Songwriter Competition has come to a close with a full house at Mulligan’s Sports Grill. Robbie Hancock of RJ Entertainment has outdone himself with the caliber of talent that he was able to attract for this competition. Local Vibe has been present for a couple of the weekly events that were qualifiers for this fantastic event and were never disappointed. This final segment was a culmination of many weeks of various artists playing their hearts out on the stage to try and win a spot in the semi-finals, which took place on June 17th and 18th. When it came down to this week, only 10 remained and the turnout to see who would take the top prizes was rather awesome.
To add to the talent filling the room there were the Bud Light girls greeting people at the door, a 50/50 draw and door prizes were being handed out all through the night. Robbie was calling out numbers almost every time the music stopped. There was Budweiser and Labatt swag and gift certificates for many other sponsors being given away all night long.
At the end of the night there were 10 artists waiting on pins and needles to see if they were going to walk away with $1,500 or one of the other great prizes being offered up. It proved to be a hard decision, even for the talented lineup of qualified judges for this event. There were deliberations for quite a while and then Robbie appeared on stage to call up the top three contestants. The first one to be called up was 3rd place, and this honor went to the young and very talented Alex Tintinalli who will be performing in the future through his new vocal microphone.
Next we were introduced to the 2nd place winner, Joni Nehrita. She had put on a fantastic performance and proudly walked away with a beautiful guitar as a new compliment to her equipment portfolio.
It was finally time to unveil the judges choice for the top prize of $1,500, and the chosen one of the Cambridge Siger/Songwriter Competition. There are of course bragging rights that go with the huge cash prize, and this time those rights belong to Allister Bradley. He outperformed a fantastic gathering of his peers and proved himself to be the number one performer.
Robbie from RJ Entertainment has pulled off a resounding success with this event, and I don’t want to put words in his mouth but I wouldn’t be too surprised to see this becoming a recurring event perhaps on an annual basis. I guess you will have to wait and see, but you can be sure that if it happens you will be hearing about it right here at Local Vibe.
