It is official!! KW’s Koolest Artist is opening for Bif Naked in London!! The following press release gives all the details:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario May 4th 2009 – - The Stone Angels, the area’s newest rock sensation and recent winners of 105 KOOL FM’s ‘KW’s Koolest Artist’ contest have been chosen over much competition to open popular recording artist Bif Naked’s show June 5th at Norma Jean’s in London, Ontario.
Kicking off her cross country tour June 3rd in Naniamo B.C., this will be Bif’s second engagement during it’s opening leg. The Stone Angels, selected April 14th from a field of over 50 participants in Kitchener/Waterloo’s Go Festival to receive 30 days of airplay on 105 KOOL FM, are thrilled at the prospect.
“Boys who play with a girl, who sings about girls – like a boy!” the Stone Angels have had nothing but success since their sold out debut show in January at the former Velvet Lounge in Cambridge (all the beer was gone by midnight!) which also featured local favourites West Memphis Suicide and Seven Years Lost.
The Stone Angels are – well known local artist Mary 5e (vox), RobertSex (guitar), Glen Hughes (bass) and Fernando Monteiro (drums), rock veterans all.
“Bif has been an inspiration to me since I started writing,” said Mary “to be playing the same stage with her… it’s just amazing!”
The Stone Angels will also be headlining May 20th at Maxwell’s Music House in Waterloo as part of the ongoing Aphrodite Series sponsored by I.R.I.S. productions. The Bif Naked show is June 5th at Norma Jean’s in London, Ontario.

LMAO. Nope. That’s my gig, I’m pulling rank. Someone has to cover Bobnoxious, WMS and 7 years Lost at Molly Bloom’s in Kitchener, but you will be able to catch Mary 5e at the Cambridge Art Festival the next day.

Sorry Barry, I was sure I saw an email or Facebook message saying Seven Years Lost was on the bill too, but it is possible that we might mix some things up here and there with so many things going on, but you can be sure that when it comes time for the performance, WE WILL BE THERE!
With West Memphis Suicide, Bobnoxious and Jakk Damage all playing at Molly Blooms I may have to fight it out with Peter to cover the story…But I am not afraid. No matter who is there, it is sure to be a great show and we will be there to capture it for the rest of the world.

No I am pretty sure we will be in London! Don’t believe rank comes into it…LMAO

Stacey, Ianmac, Peter, Naku and Kerry can handle Molly Bloom’s. I’d like you at the London show to shoot some pics, and I’m looking into broadcasting both shows so I’ll need Ianroc with me. I interviewed Biff several years ago, she is very personable, i think a show with her and Mary will be a blast. (besides, I don’t want to fight with Pete about the Molly Blooms story!)
Everyone should keep in mind that the Cambridge Arts Festival is the next day, and we are providing full coverage of that too.

Robert, just be sure the Vibe Tribe has backstage passes when you play the ACC this year.

Barry, I do believe that there were discussions with The Stone Angels about opening the show before Jakk Damage was signed. (good choice)
It turned out to be a break for The Angels as they were available to open for Biff the same night.
(the day before the Cambridge Arts Festival, c’mon Barry, Warrior, come out and play…ay. Warrior…
Barry, you were one of the instigators of The Vibe when you talked to me last September about people not respecting local acts. I hope we are making a difference.
Hail, Hail, Rock and Roll!
