One complaint that we hear constantly is that there are no large venues in Cambridge for local bands. It seems that someone has been listening. I am very pleased to announce that the Velvet Lounge has announced a concert for January 22nd that features some of the best kick ass, in your face rock in the area. Ticket information will be posted here as soon as available. (You’ll want to get tickets for this one early)
The newly formed Stone Angels , fronted by Mary 5E, bring a collective 108 years of musical experience to the stage.Their bio reads
About THE STONE ANGELS
Ladies & Gentlemen…for you entertainment…THE STONE ANGELS !!!! There’s a new band in town ready to take over the world!! THE STONE ANGELS !!! Forged from the multiple stardom that wraps each one of its four souls T
The Stone Angels are a blow of hot scorching rock n’ roll that will burn your eyebrows and boil your eardrums!!
Also appearing on the same bill is Seven Years Lost They recently brought the house down at Frankie’s Winter Rock Off Their Myspace reads, in part ”
“You have to respect the masters – Zeppelin, Sabbath — the groups who took the basic foundations of music and created something that inspires so many others to strive for greatness. It’s about the ability that some bands have to combine their passions with their art – that’s why they’ve stood the test of time. I can listen to and respect any form of music, as long as it’s honest and true. In the end, being a fan of anything true is where inspiration comes from.” -Dave Houde.
For Seven Years Lost, that’s exactly where inspiration comes from: the legends that have shaped their careers based on their love of music rather than a need to fit in. Vocalist Chris George’s style is described as a unique combination of power and soul – the rhythmic emotion of R&B mixed with the raw angst and authority of hard rock. Guitarists Dave Houde and Rob MacDonald contribute a dominant rock essence, fueled by their devotion to the rock and roll heavyweights. Bassist Matt McLoud and drummer Jay Higgins round out the lineup, bringing extreme energy and volume to a sound that Houde, George, and MacDonald have been meticulously distilling for over ten years.”
And rounding out what promises to be a great show is West Memphis Suicide WMS rocked the Preston Music Festival, and placed in the top ten in The Record’s Within Earshot video competition.
Their bio reads, in part, About West Memphis Suicide If rock n’ roll is looked at as a young man’s game, then believers in that theory have never encountered West Memphis Suicide. Featuring Chris Raposo (vocals, guitar), Barry Martin (guitar), Paul Oliver (bass) and Dani Cobb (drums), WMS may all be in their 30’s now, but understand that while they may be competing against the younger, spiky-haired, pretentiously promoted record company acts of today, they have two things many of those bands lack – honesty and experience. “We’re real; we’re not trying to sell ourselves as anything that we’re not,” confirms Oliver. “The music is about real, everyday life. We’re a little older than most bands out there, so we’ve been through stuff and we have things to write music about. I’m more confident with our music, than I have ever been with any other music – and I’m more confident with our band.”

And here we go…another attempt in reviving something that I’ve heard people complain it’s gone ever since Fiddler’s seized to exist!
We are the hammers but we still need your hands and fists to swing them so be there!
Come support what you wanted all along…it’s our town…our music scene!!!
It’s time to put it back on the map!!!
